using mutt with offlineIMAP or with archived mail i.e. mutt -f
myfile.mytype, and that is very effective.
I agree spam filtering also a good related topic.

Thanks to several on list, Don Kelly in particular, I was able to see
that IMAP was not connecting at uOttawa (but was on gmail). I spent
