Some FTP clients have a "site" subcommand, some don't. Some have a
"quote" subcommand, some don't. Some

I had this same problem with the Windows FTP client. Using a Linux FTP
client, site fix 80 works just fine.
Perhaps an adjustment to the doc indicating the difference between the
client types is in order.

David,
I use VNC during install.
After I format DASD I choose
New Installation
It displays message "Initializing catalogs"
It takes long time
and then I get "Failed to initialize the catalog. Try
again ?"
During that time I can see these repeated messages in
novstart /var/log/messages

Hi Linux390 group.
We are running SLES 10 SP1 on a z/9 LPAR (no z/VM yet).
We are now exploring the world of z/Linux with Oracle.
To increase performance we would like to assign PAV or two to the
z/Linux LPAR.
Z/Linux is using 2 ECKD volumes, 382F and 392F.
There are 3 MVS LPARS (not SYSPLEXed
"site fix 80" should be "quote site fix 80"
I will recreate the error, but it will take some time.

Could you be more specific? I'll be happy to fix it if I know where we
missed something.

I configured NOVSTART, everything went fine, the only
problem in documentation is missing "quote" in ftp
commands.
Now I try to install Linux using NFS, but I get an
error, it cannot initialize catalog (step just after
preparing DASDs and before timezone). I use
/srv/repository. (btw, to get throug
