I don't think it's the memory size or the lack of GRANT AUTHs for both
the VSwitches "intranet" and "intrav6". Edited for brevity:

Dumb question...
Where is SUSE 11 SP 1?
When I go to the Novell download site, I see SUSE 11.

You could try http:///linuxvm.org/Patches/#qethon since you're building your
own initrd. (I'm not even going to ask why you think that's a good idea.)
I think I am not grouping the 3 device numbers after loading the driver.
How do I do that? I am trying to boot SLES 11.1.

William,
I am a SLES person instead of a Red Hat person, but...
We use vswitches for connection our Linux guests to the outside world.
I get similar
problems when I forget to authorize a newly created Linux guest to the
vswitch.
Also, is 512MB enough to do a Red Hat install? I have had a numbe

Are you grouping the 3 device numbers after loading the driver, but before
trying to bring the NIC online?

I think it's complaining about the hardware address.. not the driver.. Not
sure what distro you are using -- but I would look at your network config
files for eth0 ... and ensure the hardware address used is correct and that
the address is available to the guest. CP QUERY NIC should tell you w
Hi,
I am building a custom initrd (ram disk) to boot Linux. I am getting this
error when I IPL the reader:

Sorry for the long email but I cannot seem to get RH 5 Update 5 to
install on z/VM. Whether I answer the installer's questions by hand or
encode them into the parm file, the results are the same: I can't seem
to ping the network router:
