What a hassle!
I tested some today, and found that indeed, it takes some time before
changes are seen on the R/O disk. But if I do a sync after my database
backup (on the RW linux), then umount/mount pm the RO,
the changes are immediately visible. Why should I have to do a
detach/attach?
I was working with SMT and everything seem to be working and now, all of a
sudden I am seeing the following:

No, I was just doing some testing and doing some minor tweaks and now I
the 500 message. I do not know if I did something or there is an issue
with Novell.

Looks like Novell's end is the problem. I just pointed my web browser to
nu.novell.com, and got this back:

Thanks, I reported it to Novell, hopefully it will not be too long.

The Lexmark models are not in the drop down so will look into getting
drivers from Lexmark.
I tried just picking 1 in the Lexmark list but test page but I killed a

Hello listers,
I was in the process of verifying that the proper patches were installed
on a group of servers that were freshly upgraded from SLES10SP3 to
SLES10SP4. When I went into online update, I noticed several patches
that were classified as security or recommended that were not auto

Dusting off a few brain cells, I seem to remember this happening

one or two patches at a time. This system has 27 patches

Mark,
It sounds logical, but the line in the yast update screen implies SP4. For

It looks like Novell has corrected their problem. I finished my SMT
testing and then went to the client. I ran the following script:
./clientSetup4SMT.sh --host linuxsmt.pepcoholdings.biz
And all was looking good until then end when I get the following messages:

Detach/attach is the only time Linux forces a re-read of the data
actually on the disk for the R/O systems, so you need to sync on the
R/W system, then detach/attach on the R/O systems to pick up the
actual changes.
We are getting ready to move from our old cpu to a new z114. I think
most of my z/Linux guest machines will move to the new equipment without
any problems, but I have one z/Linux machine that was built on zfcp dasd
only, and it has me worried. I can change the world wide information in

Sue,
I just had the fun of moving 32 linux guests with allocated fcp luns. When
it comes down to it this really depends on what is changing to your
connection to the san switch. The SAN team will have to rezone the luns to
the wwpn's of the new cpu chpid (to the san team this is an HBA). If
