been looking at and
clearing screens full of y for hours. How long might this take and what are my
options for punting. I can recover the data so that isn't a concern.

Thanks Mark. Sometimes the pain from the bullet in the foot makes it hard to

If I do update from a terminal everything proceeds as expected but if I
schedule update thru cron the up2date works but the shutdown never happens. Is
there a restriction on the shutdown command? What might be the problem? I put
the entry in root's crontab.

You want oracle to copy anything at all?
Bad example. I copied the sudoer line from an oracle database only machine.
There isn't anything but RedHat and Oracle on it.

. I
have set up sudoers so that there is an entry
oracle ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: /bin/tar
which allows oracle to tar -cz files not owned by oracle

Anton,
I saw your post on IBM-MAIN about no LISTSERV web interface for this list. To
search the archives use this link
http://www2.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390
Not as fancy as IBM-MAIN nor as responxive but it exists none the less.
