I recall having the same issue with k3b.
For some reason this was more common when i would change the 'label' of the CD
from k3b project' to something else...leaving this field standard seemed to
solve the issue. The was not in 100% of the cases, but did occur the few
times

I'm running SuSE 9.1 on an IBM R51 which installed smoothly and works smoothly
with no hacking or post install configuration needed (that is, other than the
usual user inteface customization etc)
I also used SuSE 9.1 Pro to the same effect.

Thanks for your response. The eth option would indeed be better, but
what can i do, i got lumbered with this!
The modem i have is the 070 model which is supported under Linux and has
worked on RH 90.

Does anyone have experience with configuring a Globespan USB Modem on
SuSE 9.0 Pro?
I have installed an rpm called eciadsl-usermode and the modem seems to
be recognised when viewing hardware through Yast.
When querying which eciadsl-usermode i get returned to command line
