I was successful, just a week ago, with Debian Woody (3.0) on P100. I used, if I recall correctly, blackice as window manager. With 48MB of memory even OpenOffice ran, more or less, reasonable. To install a 2.4 kernel, make sure it's a kernel compiled for a pentium (as opposed to Pentium Pro,
