a IM system. The server is in C, using completely portable code. BSD socks et al.

i've got the same problem here with Mercury i810 chipsets on stock RH6.2...
and yeah... www.exocore.com/linux/i810 doesn't help... :\ the only solution
is get my own kernel (RH's kernel wont patch, as they ship with some of their own),
get gart (the old one, _NOT_ the new on
another solution is load the ip_masq_ftp module, which forwards FTP data pretty
fine... it usually comes with any stock distro (atleast slackware comes with it,
and the last i checked, even suse and rh have it...).

i loaded the stuff just to get Q3 up and running, but the i810 cant manage

IMHO, the bt driver works _only_ with the BT chips. I dont think the philips
decoders are compatible to them. There isn't a standard on decoding stuff. I
think Video decoding should be added to VESA. But i think even that wont make
a big difference. Its a pity that the _latest_ _Intel_ chipsets

u have the infamous YMF724. there isn't a driver for it. i have a small hack to
make it work, but have halted work on it for some time. Its in no way stable and
dont ask for it. u might be better off getting a new card. there is some rumor
that it'll be on the list of jobs on 2.5 but dont hold u'

Linux does is pretty fast. Use SDL/XVidExt. it's faster than doze atleast.
