Hi all!
I have two questions:
1.- Why are RAID-1 writes slower than writes to one of the
RAID-1 disks?. Software overhead?. Hardware problems?.
2.- Why are RAID-1 reads slightly better than reads from one
of the RAID-1 disks?. If a RAID-1 is made up of two disks,
I've got two copies of data and

Amanda's main problem is that it depends on tar or dump, and neither
is all that great. Especially dump on Linux has major problems (no
multivolume backups, no proper end-of-tape detection (which means

Hi,
I've been fooling around with raid-tools in combination with the promise
ultra/66 controller together with a couple of IBM desk-star 22 Gb disks.
And I really like what I see.
My main concern now is about how far these things will scale.
When reading /usr/src/linux/Documentation/devices.tx
Hi,
I've just set up a RAID 1 array on a RedHat 6.0 system. It works fine but
df doesn't return the used space of the disk ...
I fllowed the software-raid howto from Jakob OEstergaard and every thing
worked right (I could't manage to build kernel 2.5.10 with raid support :
maybe i should apply so
