It *is* okay to swap on raid. It is *not* okay to swap on raid during the
resyncing process.
Dunno what all the fuzz is about... But i'm running 2 raid1 arrays. One
16mb /dev/md0
for boot, and one 15gb /dev/md1 as root. If u go into rh6.1's graphic
install u can choose
if u want an ext2 or a raid device. Go ahead and try it out. Worked
perfectly here, just
2day i janked out the primary

Hey all,
I'm running a new box with redhat6.1 and 2 5400rpm 15 gig harddisks.
There's also a cd-rom drive
on the same controller. Both the hd's are running as masters as a Raid-1
array, and cd cd-rom as
primary slave. While trying to get my isdn to work (i managed that now btw)
i managed to ge

Seems like our problems might all b over soon,
check this url out http://lwn.net/daily/2.3-fixlist.html
looks like they're gonna get raid 0.90 into the kernel, and then use it for
2.4 :)

I keep replying to these emails, all the users are thankful, but yeah, i
think we're all getting

What kind of raid level do you have? I *think* only raid lineair and raid 0 are
supported for now, but i might be wrong.

U can apply to a 2.2.13 kernel as well, no need to go with a 2.2.11 kernel.
It will
give u 2 rejects, but it's safe to ignore those. I'm using the same
patches/tools with
the 2.2.13 kernel as well.

Hi all,
i just had a crash with software raid 1, the power of 1 of the 2 raid hd's
came loose during bootup. It resulted in me having to reboot. Then it checked
the hd, found that an inode was not connected. Had to drop into a shell and
run fcsk. Which put a single inode in the lost+found dir.
I tried it and i'm compiling now, there's 1 extra hunk fail i think, just
entered it thru. For people
using the ide patch, u'll need the new 2.2.13pre ide patch, cuz the old
2.2.12 ide patch failed
on some points (IMHO)
If anything goes wrong i'll keep u posted

At 09:22 20/10/99 -0500,
Enable what in the kernel? I did compile it with raid linear and raid0 support

Let me explain... i haven't actually ran raid yet, i want it to run raid0,
but it's
not working yet. And i'm trying to get it to work from my current setup. Which
is just 2 ide hd's of which 1 has data and the 2nd was recently added... Both
are formatted with diskdruid and have linux native parti

I'm trying to run a raid0 setup as boot device with ide 2 disks on my linux
2.2.12 kernel patched with the latest raidpatch and ide patch and
compiled with raid linear and raid 0 support.
What i get when booting is the following:
Warning: unable to open an initial console
Kernel Panic: No init
I just did the very same thing
Kernel: 2.2.12
Patch: raid0145-19990824-2.2.11
added Raid0 and Linear support, Raid5 as module
*BUT* i also used an ide patch ide.2.2.12.patch.gz which i can get from the
people's dir
under hedrick from any ftp.xx.kernel.org ftp.
I patched the kernel with raidpat
