Hi Again,
Well, the good news is I was able to answer my own questions. The bad
news is that although I was able to successfully apply the
usb-ehci-2.4.20-pre11.patch to my 2.4.20 final release kernel sources,
my new patched kernel didn't help bring my USB2.0 CardBus card to
life. Maybe I'll tr

You might want to try gpm to mix two devices together and then use
/dev/gpmdata in X. "man gpm" should help you do that.

The buffer is only 5 bytes. I think the problem is, that it is not
always receiving data. It just receives data when someone sends a
signal, but I need to be constantly reading the device for when they do
send a signal. That's my problem I not sure if I am going about this

How big is the buffer you're reading?
Are you sure there is data to be read from the device?
Can you try HZ * 4 (or larger)?

Okay I am a novice in hardware programming, but I have always heard and

Hi,
I am trying to get USB audio working with Linux 2.4.19 and the Apple USB
speakers. I have read all of the documentation I can find on the
Internet, but I get no sound from these speakers.
I my /var/log/messages, I get this when I plugin the speakers.

from where I sit - issues with identifying the individual ports look
to be a bigger problem than the number of ports.

Mi apologies to everyone.
I tried to boot into the original SuSE kernel again, and now I was able to
mount my Buslink USB flashdrive. So it seems when I made my kernel
smaller, I managed to leave out something that is essential. (I wish I
knew what that was though.)

I'm a pretty happy camper when it comes to using USB on my laptop,

If I start XFree86 (version 4, mind you) and *then* plug in a USB mouse,
the mouse doesn't do anything. I have to shutdown X and start it over
again and then the mouse is detected.
