Top post - sorry. Finally fixed it. Tried stopping Firefox then apt-get remove mozilla-mplayer then apt-get install mozilla-mplayer but no joy. Then used Synaptic and chose the option "Mark for complete removal" Apply then Reinstalled and it works. Thanks for all of the ideas
