Just for fun, last night I wrote a script that opens a WAV file and outputs
what notes the samples are playing, like A4, C#5, E3, etc. This could be a
useful tool for LMMS. Where do you suppose it could be integrated? Maybe in
the piano roll there could be a tool button to open a sample and transcr
That sounds like permission for me to change it as long as old projects are
compatible.

I agree, and I vote to change it to C. We've discussed this before in IRC,

Why is the default key in LMMS A4 instead of C4 or C5? Since C is the
harmonic center, I would have expected C to be the default (like in
other music software.)
