I am network administrator of Main Library of Opole University. We are
going to use LTSP in our library. Definitely. We even bought 2 servers
for this and 12 dedicated terminals. Yes we want to use one account for
many users as we were doing for years with NOVELL for example. This

I am very interested in the K12 project, and the LTSP - I'm having it in
mind to create a system, where I can do a quick an easy rollout of my
choosen OS, but booting up a machine with a floppy, and accessing my desktop
on my terminal server, and also having access to the local hardware, meaning
Daniel,
you will get much better mileage from having each terminal
assigned a unique login. that way you'll know where the traffic is coming
from and the system won't be confused about the value of DISPLAY
variables, which is often the case when you don't use ssh and just try to
derive
2) I'm having a strange issue with OpenOffice.org -- I can log into one
terminal and load up and use OpenOffice.org with no problem. I can log
into a separate workstation with a different account and OpenOffice.org
works fine. However, when I am logged into two different workstations at

Hi
Thanks for your answer.
I'm running Linux from the time when kernel had 0.99 version number. Our
LTSP installation is running non-stop for about 6 months with quite luck
but for our employee (different logins of course). Right now I want to
prepare it for students. WebMin is not good enough
Hi
Thanks everybody for answers. It seems that setting login for
workstation is very good idea :). Easy to setup and more secure than one
login account. I think it's best for me.

Vinicio,
it looks like you are trying to load vmlinux-2.4.19-ltsp-1.
Check to make sure that you spelled that correct.
that is:
vmlinuz-2.4.19-ltsp-1

Notice the 'z' where you had an 'x'.
But, that may have been a typo.
So, the other problem I see, is you should be loading
if you follow the whole thread (as I just did, very thorough) you'll see
that if you are using autologin, it doesn't 'really' matter if you have a
single login account, except that it will create problems down the line. It
appears to be better to atleast use a single login for each computer, ie
Hi!
I'm still using LTS on i386 platforms.
Since a few month I got a new machine in my collection and I think
about to set it up as LTS.
The machine is a
IBM RS/6000
Model B50B (CHRP)
with a PPC 604e processor.
Did anyone do a port of LTS to this kind of machine or is working on it?
It would also

Hello, everyone --
I had no idea that merely mentioning that I'm working on an LTSP step-by-step
how-to would make a half-finished document so popular!
In its present form it does not follow any Linux-world

Thanks... for some reason even with these changes it wouldn't work, so I

I'm looking for some help from people responsible for live LTSP systems.
What hardware are you using and what number and type of users have you
got? By compiling examples of real live systems, I'm hoping to give
potential new users some guidance as to what size of servers they might
need. To keep
Hi,
I'm new to LTSP. What Linux distribution is best supported by LTSP?
What packages should install before installing LTSP server software?
Thanks.

basically that it would work, but that noone had tested

The simplest implementation would be to get it working

Hello,
For those who may be interested, I have produced an updated version of the
LTSP+OpenMosix: A Mini How-To. While it is based on an installation of the
K12LTSP 2.1.1 distribution, I believe in might be useful in other LTSP
settings as well.
I'm hoping Jim will post it to LTSP.org because I
