Michael,
The HP t5000 should work fine. I think you've got a display manager
problem.

It keeps getting worse. Now the thin clients will not power down. There was a 5 second delay, but now they will not power down at all. (With LTSP 3, there wasn't even a delay). Unplugging the power cable, and then cycling, they come back up nicely, but I have reached the end of the rope.

Sorry if this is a dumb question.
All,
I will crank the Maxsessions to something like 5000. I will check the gdm version tonight. The server was initially built Aug 2004, but it has been patched since. At any rate, I can't apply a new version till Friday though, so hopefully 5000 will be high enough to hold things together till

I was not able to understand the local applications

don't even need to have l

Some accounts, (not all) are now hanging at the login 'blue screen'. I use
gnome. I found an article mentioning adding nolock to /etc/exports

but ... the system in question involves the server hosting /home.

Dear All,
We are successfulyy running LTSP 4 on a RH ES 3 server with about 10
workstations in our Library. On top of this we are running Direqcafe 1.4
for managing the users time that they spent browsing the Internet. We
would like to expand this year, once our new Resource Centre is complete
Hi Guys'n'Gals
I have been using LTSP successfully with rdesktop to connect to our windows
2k3 server. but have 2 problems/queries
1) Is there anyway to get acceptable performance from multimedia
applications/web pages?
2) When connecting to our Proxy server the HOST systems IP is used and not
Just trying to understand future events or architecture or something
like that. When LTSP is migrated to kernel 2.6, assuming that it's
going to, will it support ALSA sound as is, or am I off base on assuming
that esd and ALSA are occupying the same space?
I'm in no rush for any of this, with
