I'm trying to get automatic and timed login to work for some kiosk
machines at the local library. The
server is Ubuntu 5.10 and LTSP is 4.1.1 . I'm using gdm, and am
experimenting with
the value of the DISPLAY environment variable in the PostLogin/Default
script. I've noticed
that DISPLAY gets se

Oh, sorry for asking in the other mail. I just read the mail.
Perfect!

With LTSP-4.2, we're moving to the 2.6.15.4 kernel with udev and all the
cool new tricks that come along with it.
In fact, Scott Balneaves and I are working right now on that. And when I
say "right now", I couldn't be more serious about it. We're actually
sitting in a hotel room in Toronto hacki
Im running everything on 2.4 but im facing the need to start using 2.6
coz i need alsa and hotplug.
I was going to port udev to ltsp to solve your first problem. I don't
understand the second one, what about it?
The third would be great, i was going to add 32mb to every workstation
to have a total
The only way I can think of is if the browser ran locally on the thin clients. You would have to setup the local aps part for LTSP, then have a thin client capable of having and running the browser locally.A little more administration and setup though. What are your thin clients or your proposed
It is working. When you log in via the thin client, you are actually on the server machine, which is the 254 IP address.
The static IP address you assign is only for the initial boot and if
you are setting up any local media (local floppies, CD's ,etc).
Got it?

Decided to take the plunge and finally get our thin clients working
just so, and compile a precision made customer kernel for them to try
and improve boot times, stability etc. etc.
Started by reading the wiki on customer kernels which has quite a few gaps and omissions.
I'm using ST320s with 22M
What are the plans for getting read of devfs so that LTSP can start to
use standard unpatched 2.6 kernels? It seams we have not had very much
movement recently.

hi.
I need to install a
skype phone in some of our terminals.. the phone is recognized in "non terminal
client" XP s but it needs proprietary software
installed also.
My terminal clientes
boot up ltsp but then connect via rdesktop to windows 2000 terminal
server .
THANKS!
Hello,
I have been having a problem with java applications since some time last week.
I am using ltsp ver 3 on an SLES 9 machine. Anytime anyone attempts to run a
java application they get the following error message:
Warning: Fatal Error:

Access lists, permisions and applications that are based on client
ip's, are much more limited because you've got a whole group of users
on the same ip (the ltsp server's ip)
