Most of the problems on the list will be eliminated.

I am facing a couple of problems running a test setup
of a workstation and server.
Problem #1: I can only get a login prompt if the
workstation is switched off and on. Not with a hardware reboot.
Problem #2: The X window works fine but hangs after 10
minutes of starting.

I just installed 2.09pre4 and am faced with the
following error when the workstation boots:
"NFS server not responding.."
NFS is running. /var/log/messages do not report
anything strange..
I am running Mandrake 7.2 on server and RealTek 8029

I am having a login problem. I am running 2.08, Mandrake 7.2.
The first time that workstation is able to get a login screen. In the event
that i reboot or it hangs i am unable to get a login again.
I am running gdm and the port 177 is active as well.
/var/log/message has this

My workstation boots up in X and mouse is running but i
don't get login screen.
I think that xdm is not running. Even if run
manually, the workstation doesnt get a login screen.
I am using LTSP 2.08 and Mandrake

My setup is as follows:
Server is running Mandrake 7.2
Ltsp 2.08 installs fine. The directory /tftpboot is
created.
The files are exported through NFS as
/tftpboot/lts/ltsroot
On the diskless workstation side:
I am booting from a floppy using boot floppy
created from eb-5.0.3.rtl8029.lzds
Dear Rossi
The first thing you have to decide is to either use bootp or dhcp. Not both.
That is the reason why it is taking nearly one minute to locate the DHCP
server.

Infact, I am able to mount these from a normally booted linux

Check you server processes. ps -ax
Generally there should be about 8 jobs listed as '[nfsd]' if
you have nfs running.
