I figuered it out (finally!), and I wanted to thank all of you for your
help. The answer to my particular problem lay in two files:
lts.conf
kdmrc
Changing the default runlevel in lts.conf to "5" got me my "no logon
window" X session (thanks Jim!), and setting "Enable=true" in the
[Xdm

I have managed to get an old Compaq Proliant 3000 configured with LTSP 2.08, and got the workstation booting from a floppy using an Intel Pro 100 (thanks rom-o-matic!).
