Hello,
I tried installing ltsp_core-3.0.7.0.i386.rpm,
ltsp_kernel-3.0.5-0.i386.rpm, ltsp_x_core-3.0.4-0.i386.rpm and
ltsp_x_fonts.3.0.0-0.i386.rpm on a REdhat8.0 server with kernel version
2.4.18-14 on an i686.
Upon trying to boot my thinclient it freezes with the last line :

I know this is a well known subject, but I have spend several hours
trying to solve it.
I took care of the /etc/exports (I also tried to export /) but with no
improvement.
In fact all the problems started I when decided to move to lts 3.0.0
from 2.07 as I wanted to be able to get some sound fr
DK,
I'll take a guess here and say that you are probably not mounting
the /opt/ltsp/i386 directory as the root filesystem.
Check your root-path entry in the dhcpd.conf file.

Geoffrey,
devfs doesn't really affect the local device issues. It does allow us
to remove the symlinks for
many of the devices from the /tmp directory.

So, will this make network access to resources easier for users? I mean,
shouldn't the use of devfs allow the diskless ws user

Ok, I now understand.

Yes, still using the kernel that I built for version 2.0.8. This is a rather important
change that should possibly be in
Richard,
It is empty because we are now using devfs, which will dynamically
create the device
nodes as needed.
Did you build your own kernel ?

No. I am still using the disk I made for 2.08 which uses a 2.2.19 kernel. So I guess
that will not work?
Must I make a new kernel disk using a 2.4.x kernel with devfs enabled?

Hi,
Are you using the kernel included with 2.09pre, with devfs support?

Yes, I am talking about /opt/ltsp/i386/dev. This dir is empty - should it not have
something in like the dev directory of version 2.0.8?

Richard,
Which directory are you talking about ?
The 2.09pre3 expects the workstation root directory to be in /opt/ltsp/i386

Ok, on my 2.08 box there is lots in the nfs dev directory. On the pre3
version the directory is empty? I have run the install script for the core.
What gives?

Ok, on my 2.08 box there is lots in the nfs dev directory. On the pre3 version the
directory is empty? I have run the install script for the core. What gives?
