You can boot from an ISO file via Grub
It has been a while since I have done this, so some things may have
changed... and NOT ALL DISTROS use casper as the root directory for the
initrid/vmlinuz files, so look in the ISO for the file you need... for
example Fedora

lots of installations and hardware tests with different GNU/Linux
distribution.
Grub has been my best option, but it's very tricky to properly configure
grub.cfg for each different OS.

16.04.0 32, 64 bit
16.04.1 32 bit and pae
But when they boot they all look the same.
It can save many people a lot of time if this is displayed BEFORE
loading into the live environment.

Just installed 16.04.1 on a box that didn't work with the first release.
Asus board with onboard intel graphics.
The screen flashed a lot and the box even crashes when playing a video,
i noticed refresh rate is standard set to 59.5, I set that to AUTO and
that seems to have improved a lot. St

I created a dedicated script to automatically restore desired keyboard
layout. I attach it. It must be started with desktop.
This script is written for Gnome, but it can inspire you to create an
LXDE variant.
