Indeed this Weiss might be Johann Sigismund Weiss.
In one case he is even named as Jean Sigmund Weiss ...
There are other non lute works of him in:
Kassel (only incipits), Rostock, S-Harnösand (probably),
S-Lund/Uppsalla, D-Herdringen, D-Karlsruhe (possibly).

Bette Davis as Elizabeth I, upon hearing a particular dance tune that was later

Dear fellow pluckers,
Does anybody out there know if Jacques Gallot the lutenist was *also* Jacques
Gallot the guitarist? There is very little written on the subject, and what
there is seems to conflict - h.
Perhaps there is something about this in the long out of print CNRS Gallot

Chris,
You'll save yourself a lot of frustration and
expense if you go with the professional teacher. A
good teacher has spent years learning their craft and
they know all of the pitfalls and dead-ends you're
likely to work yourself into on your own.

Hmmm.. want to stay on good terms with your daughter? Spring for lessons
from the teacher, lol.
My daughter recently started taking Renaissance lute lessons and is
making good progress -- considering that she has only been playing for
one month.
Now I'm thinking of studying lute too, but if
Is that a guitar type bridge? Looks like it in the photo...

I recall from a conversation with Hogwood many years ago that he told me

I sent this with a picture attached and when I got it back there was

I have been meaning to let you all know about our renaissance
guitars and since someone was talking about a lute in Australia
There were two C. Weisses, father and son flutists born in Muhlhausen. Both
travelled in Italy, and later resided in London. The father Carl (1738-1795)
published two books of Six Trios for flute, violin and bass (London, 1772,
1776). These were extremely popular and later editions appeared
I'm chiming in late here but I think the operative words are slightly more
experienced. An experienced student isn't necessarily incapable of teaching
basics to a rank beginner. For example, my daughter's harp teacher allows a few
of her oldest students to teach the very beginnning young
Arthur,
many thanks for this!
The trio Donatella referred to is exactly the one, that you give.
Opus 3 is also in Kopenhagen: http://img.kb.dk/ma/giedde/gs01-25bm.pdf
Do you have any further literature on these Weisses? Are they in any
way related to the lutenists Weiss?
Best regards
