This afternoon I was sent this little bit of nonsense, which I pass on, with the hope that some might find it amusing. Stewart McCoy. -o-O-o- The following appeared in "Early Music Review" for November 2003. "Years ago, in what seems another life, I worked in record shops. Customers would come

Thank you all who gave me information on Jiri Cepelak (Czech Republic). I just bought an 11 course Baroque lute after Frei by Cepelak. It hasn't arrived yet. The last time I had a Baroque lute, Terry Schumaker was very helpful. Does anyone know how I can contact him? He used to live in

I have a wound 5th course string, so maybe this is a little off-topic :). Anyhow, my wound strings are darker by the rose where the right thumb touches them. But they are lighter close to the 3rd and 4th frets, where the left-hand fingers touch them. Thumb and fingers get washed about the same,

Hi Donatella, I'll forward your mail or ask Markus to forward it (if I should not find the correct eMail addresses). Vieux Gaultier is called Abbé in a ms. but we don't have evidence he had a any ecclesial function. The idea I got from the lecture is that it possibly depicts a french person tra

Dear Donatella, Yes - it's the painting on your page. Frank Legel mentioned that you discovered the painting and identified the piece earlier (so Tony Bailes and Frank Legel could have spared some work - if they knew about it). I don't want to say something wrong (Frank is scientist and *very*
