Can anyone recommend a place to buy the book
"Method for the Baroque Lute" by Miguel Serdoura?
I've found it at

www.utorpheus.com
www.di-arezzo.co.uk
but I've no experience with any of these
sellers, and in particular I'm worried about

Of these three, my only dealings have been with Utorpheus, from whom I bought
the Andrea Damiani lute method book. My experience was positive. When my copy
arrived and had some missing pages - non printed - they immediately sent me
another copy without requesting return of the defective copy.
The number of courses depends on the type of lute (renaissance,

I've seen lutes from 6 to 13 courses.
In general, the number of courses increased as the decades
and centuries rolled by.

Am I right in thinking you are asking about notating diapasons in
Abctab2ps? It's a while since I used that system, but it's
true that the user guide doesn't refer to any more than 10 courses.

I just downloaded it and am reading the documentatino.
No limit is specified, but the examples show 10, and the rest of the doc
implies renaissance lutes, so I suspect the code is limited to 10 courses.

I recently wrote to the Newberry Library in Chicago, inquiring about
the possibility of their producing a full color Capirola facsimile at any

the ledger line notation for courses 7 to 10 and the number notation; eg.

results in an "a" with three ledger l

As far as I know, you can use up to 14 courses, as you can see in:
http://www.lautengesellschaft.de/cdmm/userguide/node8.html#SECTION00088000
It's about tablature fonts:
68-71 (ASCII 'D'-'G') Numbers '4'-'7' for the french habit of numbering
bourdons
72-78 (ASCII 'H'-'N') Numbers
13 matches
