I have this guy:

It has one of those brick-sized lead-acid batteries
so it has plenty of amps to burn. There is a 'clean'
input with a 4-channel eq section. I tried two
other battery powered solutions before this one and
sent them back. T
I think Wayne is reight that the Mouse amps are no longer available. I
had one for a long time and it worked well, although there were not many
ways to adjust the sound, like there are now in newer amps. The Mouse
had a battery and it could also be plugged in, so it was quite
versatile. Now I
I use a lavalier mic. I don't remember the brand. It is attached to
a thin piece of wood threaded under the bass strings. This is a
trick I learned from someone on this list years ago.

Cool! And so nice to put a face to the name. We should all do that. :-)
I have a similar setup: mic/mic-preamp/amp.

treble side of my 13-course lute. A This had nothing to do with sound
or amplification, it did it merely to raise the action of the
instrument, as on the first 2 courses, they would buzz. A This was a

Interesting. I think it might have been Ed Martin who came up with the wood
trick. I do the same thing but on the treble side. I guess you get enough
treble with it on the bass side. Im just surprised. I often jam my mic between
the wood and soundboard (of course there is foam around the mic) r
So I have the Hog 30, which is very clean with good bass, though nowhere
near as loud as a cranked 30 watt tube amp. I have a Sennheiser 441
mic (which is kind of expensive these days) on a nice boom stand
which can be adjusted to be about 2.5 feet high,
with a cable and a low to high impedance l

Here is the list of new lute intabulations, corrected and reworked in Fronimo,
with better layouts on the IMSLP.

Glad this conversation has taken a less snarky turn.

Yes, I am also very much interested in the microphone you use and its
placement, thanks.
