docbook status

I have a file 'docbook.lyx' dated Sept 99, from Jose' Matos with the TODO of generating a book class for docbook to compliment article. Is there any progress there, or notes on what needs to be done? Or, import/export sgml? The reason I ask is that I stirred up some interest for linux-kernel-docum

As far as I can see, the conclusion is that the numbering scheme as such is not that important. The main thing is to communicate which ever system is used. So, would anybody be kind enough to go through our different files and documents and provide a list of places where we mention the versioning
