fine in terms of functionality.. jabref works out of the box on OS X
and also has the push to LyX feature (I don't know how useful this
feature is since adding citations from within LyX is just as easy).

initial difficulty in choosing the right Style for the references in
Lyx. The apalike style seems to work fine now. Are there other Style
files that can be added to the current list that one should be aware
of?
