Hi All,
This is a late catch, but FileApp Pro, which lets you download and manage
documents and files on your iPhone or other iOS device, is free today. It
normally lists for $4.99. I've mostly been using Filer, which supports more
media file types through playback within the app, but FIleAp

Hi,
In this just published Tech Doctor podcast, Robert describes the 1Password
password manager and demonstrates how to use the software with VoiceOver. He
ends the podcast by discussing his approach to general Mac security.
The Tech Doctor podcast is available via iTunes, iBlink radio and on t
Hi everyone,
Here is the permanent
link for the updated KeyRemap4Macbook podcast on applevis.com. This replaces
the fdropbox link I submitted earlier.
I hope some of you are enjoying this capability.

Hi Sarah and Dónal,
I've used Wget from command line, which a techie, unix/linux sort of response
that doesn't answer the question of having a GUI interface. A quick search of
the web and the macupdate site brought up references to a donationware tool

Hi,
Thanks for warning me, I'm definitely not going to try the open office thing.
I'll just have to convert the documents to audio then put them in an m4b format
with audiobook builder. I could use ibooks to read the documents on my iphone,

Hi Dónal,
If the end that connects to the Mac popped off as another result of the way the
charger died, it should still be covered under Apple Care. That said, I don't
think any non-Apple chargers work reliably with the MacBook Pros. I haven't
had any problems with the older Mag safe chargers
Thanks John, I should read the archives before crying help - I just did that
and the external drive was there, and I did boot successfully from it. And,
then back again to the internal Macintosh HD.
Thanks

OH really? A friend of mine managed to get a new chargeg even though it was
quite literally in pieces. Maybe try calling back and you might get a rep who
is willing to do that for you.

hi all,
Was asked this by a friend and I've no answer.
He is on a website where files are ordered in /folder/folder/file(s). What he
wants to do is point the browser at the folder and have it download all
contents. Note FTP is not an option.
I have recommended some command line methods to do
I've made a backup with SuperDuper, and then tried to restart from that
clone by holding down the option key while restarting. I got to some kind of
selection screen which I assume was the screen for selecting a bootable
volume. I realize that VO was not functional at this screen and remembered

Actually sadly not. Because the connector popped off, it's counted as
"physical damage" and thus, like most things useful, is not covered under the
absolute waste of money that is applecare.

If you are covered under apple care you should be able to get it replaced free.

Hi all,
Are those Mag. safe chargers the only ones for a Macbook pro? My original one
has died rather spectacularly (it involved a smell of burning, then the bit
that connects to the mac fell off) so I need to replace it. However the

I don't believe this is easily accomplished as yet. I think there was supposed

but the last time I looked all of the available solutions were very poorly

Hi Phil
Sorry to sound like a broken old record here, but the usual recommendation
applies. Make, and retain, a current full backup of your system. Use
something like Super Duper! or Carbon Copy Cloner to accomplish this.
That way, you'd know whether the update breaks anything and, if it does
I personally wouldn't hold to old versions unless there is a verified reason
not too, apple has been reasonably good at keeping voiceover working in
their own products
