Hi all, can anyone remind me how to turn off the message preview in Mac mail,
here is what I have tried without success:
Find the splitter between the message table and preview and interact
bring it down to zero
use vo command f5 to move the mouse pointer
tap the track pad
Any help would be
received Email in
a folder local to my iPhone with a folder name relating to the subject of the
Email. I do this all the time using Apple mail on my iMac and it is a very

I think you have to root the mouse to the splitter then press the track pad
until you feel it click and swipe down. That should make it go away.

I think gail is getting slightly mor eagresive. I guess just keep an eye on it

view and have checked the view option to group messages by conversation.
I am unclear on how to handle multiple messages in the same conversation using
VO. This is easy on my iPhone as selecting such a message

There is a rebuild mailbox option right at the end of a long Mailbox
menu in Apple Mail, which you could try.
I am not sure though if this is what you are looking for as I have never
heard of a mail database.

Did you try repairing permissions/ it sounds like the data base is being
corrupted by something.

I took away the preview pain so for me in both classic and modern view the the
messages will not read. i hate modern view with a passion as I'm a list and
tables person and have to have my messages organized by date descending and
only read the subject. This is always how I have read mai

like and I have always preferred the standard modern view which will
deliver what you want.

Actually mail is not clunky at all. In fact it's faster to get around things
then it ever was. All you need to do is learn your navigation key strokes and
visuallise your space. Vo j is your friend.

Want to send a message to a different recipient? No problem! Just press the

In Mountain Lion you just need to press Command 1 to get the windows back in
mail. If you have read a message and do command w to close it and then do
command w again you close that window.

in again and this clears it.

After much frustration with the vo j command, I had the hard disk on my
macbok air erased, followed by a clean install of Yosemite, and now the
command works perfectly, at least in Mail and the Finder. So, if anyone

I’ve looked at the mailbox settings and nothing seems out of order in there
though, as a new Mac user, I fully expect I’ve missed something.

I think the Mod should post the list guidelines which prohibit David's
podcast links, that's all.
