being spoken by VoiceOver under iOS 7 last fall, but I didn't mean to send it
out now. However, this is one of the features that I've noticed under iOS 7,
along with more symbols in general being recognized by VoiceOv

As a side effect of checking out Sarah's question about IPA symbols for
phonetic representation, I notice that under iOS 7 the individual phonetic
characters for pronouncing words in dictionary entries can now be read out by
VoiceOver. For example, if you have downloaded

There isn't a really good way to work with IPA (phonetic) symbols with
VoiceOver, because most of these characters don't get pronounced. There's a
