Hi all, can anyone remind me how to turn off the message preview in Mac mail,
here is what I have tried without success:
Find the splitter between the message table and preview and interact
bring it down to zero
use vo command f5 to move the mouse pointer
tap the track pad
Any help would

I think you have to root the mouse to the splitter then press the track pad
until you feel it click and swipe down. That should make it go away.

I think gail is getting slightly mor eagresive. I guess just keep an eye on it
and move it back and keep flaging it for non spam.

There is a rebuild mailbox option right at the end of a long Mailbox
menu in Apple Mail, which you could try.
I am not sure though if this is what you are looking for as I have never
heard of a mail database.

Did you try repairing permissions/ it sounds like the data base is being
corrupted by something.

I took away the preview pain so for me in both classic and modern view the the
messages will not read. i hate modern view with a passion as I'm a list and
tables person and have to have my messages organized by date descending and
only read the subject. This is always how I have read mail

Actually mail is not clunky at all. In fact it's faster to get around things
then it ever was. All you need to do is learn your navigation key strokes and
visuallise your space. Vo j is your friend.

In Mountain Lion you just need to press Command 1 to get the windows back in
mail. If you have read a message and do command w to close it and then do
command w again you close that window.

After much frustration with the vo j command, I had the hard disk on my
macbok air erased, followed by a clean install of Yosemite, and now the
command works perfectly, at least in Mail and the Finder. So, if anyone
is having the same problem, it's worth persevering -- it can work

All of a sudden, I’m not getting mail on the MBA. This started happening after
I installed Yosemite but it seemed to have stabilized until this morning; I
haven’t changed anything. I can get the mail on the iPhone six but not the

Hmmm…yes, when I read back over it, I see what you mean! smile
For one of my accounts, instead of the mail going into the inbox, it’s going
straight into trash! I’ve looked at the settings and nothing seems
particularly untoward there! Any ideas what may be going on, please?

Yosemite, and I've struck a
problem with mail. I prefer to use classic view, and on my old machine,
running Mountain Lion, I use the jump command (VO j) as a quick way to jump
between the mailboxes list and the messages table. But with the new machine,
this no longer works, and VO j does
