It is a privilige, for those with enough money. This seems fair, since there
are free alternatives.

Yes! that's the odd, incredibly obscure reference I was going for, he also
wrote the regex book for Oreilly, which is choke full of perl examples,
although I don't think he uses a mac :(

That's a 7,000+ program, and no, it's not in Japanese :) This is what I get
when I open a file with Unix line endings.

Has anyone experienced this,
Perl files saved in BBEdit in Unix and then closed and reopened, will be
opened as a Macintosh format? The problem seems to be that BBEdit isn't
changing \n to \r in the editing window, or aren't understanding that the
file is using Unix newlines and thinks it's a Mac
BBEdit has it's own SDK for floating palletes and such. You can grab it
from the Bare Bones site I'm sure anyone who knows C could bust it out.
I was wondering if anyone has created one yet.

What I do (I use @home) which uses DHCP. That fills in the IP addy for
me, and then I switch the network configuration to 'Manual' - I use
the IP addy that I got from the DHCP server and just lock it in!
That way, you'll always have the same IP address and if you need to, you

I could see where this would be a problem for old Classic applications that

hey Russ,
that's a really cool trick, I use BBEdit myself quite a bit, would you mind
sharing the code on how you accessed Perl from OSX instead of Mac Pearl?
I'd love to see how the OS interacts with all its different levels.
