You can hit the escape key to get out of the getting started tutorial. If
that doesn't work, try the letter v key.

That's the one I went to after doing a google search for it, then found a
download link, so of course naturally figured it was to download a piece of
software. I couldn't find any instructions on the about page on how to operate
it when I tried to learn more about it prior.

just take the headphones off if I'm listening to something like a dvd. Could
you not just turn vo off and then turn it back on if you need

To change VoiceOver settings press vo-f8. If you have function keys set
