Hello:
Suddenly when I open an email message I am not going directly into the body of
the message. Instead I land on the message headers. This is annoying because
I have to interact with the text which isn't a big deal but it is just one more

Ok hopefully this has a simple answer. When I am in text edit and I want to
save a file I do command S. The problem is that sometimes it saves and
sometimes I get the save as dialogue. How do I get the save as dialogue
consistently?

Hello Ed,
VueScan can do OCR but it isn't as good as ABBYY FineReader. If all you need is
to read printed mail, then VueScan will probably work for you.
I must admit, I haven't tried it in English for a long time, but I do know that
in French, VueScan is horrible.
If I have time, I'll give the

To each there own. I am one of those who only backs up manually. so that
probably means once every 2 months. I also have 2 8TB network attached storage
devices,
so I also back up the files and apps that are most important to me, along with
googol drive, drop box, sky drive, as well as iCloud.
Because I can get rid of my stuff on my machine and when I put it back
together, everything is there were I left it. My Time Capsule was never wright
as the Backups would stop so I got rid of it and hence Drop Box and the AirPort
Extreme.

Is it possible to perform the OCR using vuescan or do you also need Fine Reader?

Hello Jürgen,
I'm afraid it only works consistently for BBC programmes and only a few Channel
4 programmes, so it appears you're unlucky with that one.
I just tried it myself with no success. I don't know anywhere else to find this
programme.
Cheers,

Hello Ed,
Many of us use a combination of VueScan and ABBYY FineReader because it's
easier to scan multiple pages with VueScan then pass the file containing
multiple images to FineReader for the OCR. ABBYY FineReader is available in the
Appstore and will work directly with a scanner, but VueSca

Hi Gigi,
I'm not looking for something like Ipal, a commercial app is fine for my needs.
Do you have a preference over Bootscan or Abbyy Fine Reader? I've used Abbyy
in the past under Windows.
Thanks,

Hi Ed
I guess it depends on what you need to do. I have VueScan together with Abby
Fine Reader. That works fine for me.
There is one that I have seen that, if I needed to tons of scanning, I would
consider. I saw it once, and I was impressed. HOwever, it's expensive. It is

I'm glad you think that's funny about me not wishing to have an Time Capsule
anymore.
I did sell the Time Capsule.

I know what you mean though. Nearly everything of mine is backed up on Dropbox
too, so it kinda makes Time Machine backups

Once I generate a password, however, I usually just copy and paste it into a

When inside 1password, one can generate a new password and then save it. Where
are those stored? On the mac, when I arrow down the sidebar, I don't find a

looks as if the generated passwords are not in 1pass

An ADSL with a v2 bridge which I got from Amazon. I use to have a time Capsule

Everything is bcked up on my Drop Box these days even my VMWARE with Windows.
So the IMac can break or Whatever but nothing gets lost or damage
