After researching this a bit on the internet, I decided that for a “quick fix”
I would simply grant myself read and write permissions to the entire Time
Machine directory via the Finder’s get info dialog under the sharing and
permissions section. I added read/write permissions for myself
it’s in the boot camp control panel
under the startup tab. This will avoid your having to memorize a key sequence
that doesn’t speak as you described.

Installing from the recovery partition (CMD+R upon rebooting) should install
the same version of OS X that’s currently installed on the computer. Installing
