You can do this by turning quicknav off.

Hi
I don' thave the preview payne open so that would explain it. VO-J
does read the window but in the same way that reading it from the
scroll view does.

When I do VO-J I can't read line by line. It says text but then it's
still only readable as an entire message. Do you have to be using
quick nav for this to work?

Hi,
I believe what is happening here is primarily related to iMap mail accounts not
loading messages as fast as they should. I have three main accounts along with
a few seldom used others. Of the three main accounts, one is an iCloud iMap,
one a POP, and one a Google Apps gMail iMap account.

Hi,

Yes, that requires that you have the Preview Pane open. I don't, because that

I know that people use different methods to read mail. I always tab to the

Don't you have to have preview enabled to do that? Pressing VO-J does nothing
when I do it, though I know I did use that method after I first got a Mac back
in 2009.

Yes, I’ve had this problem since the release of Yosemite. I’m now consistently
working around it using QuickNav or interaction. If not for the other
genuinely useful stuff in Yosemite (in particular Safari and ARIA), this one
would kill it for me.

Yes, this is a 10.10.3 issue I strongly recommend you email to Apple
Accessibility. In the meantime, I find that closing and opening the message 2
or 3 times will fix it. There's a chance that toggling load remote content in
Mail's preferences will help, but I can't be sure of that yet.

Yes I have noticed that opening the message over and over seems to eventually
