ok. maybe I’ll give it a shot anyway. first I need to learn how to use Kindle
on my Mac. I couldn’t get into the body of the book. I guess it’s complicated
like everything else at least to me.

Hi Lorie,
Sorry, but I can only confirm what Andrew has already said. It seems there is
no way for VoiceOver to interact with the text other than reading a screens
worth of text at a time. Left and Right cursor keys will navigate by page, or
you can use the buttons on screen, but the app seems
fI can only read in Kindle using Braille display one page at a time. Each time
you get to the bottom of the page you need to press the next page button for it
to load. It’s cumbersome.
Hope this helps a little.

yes thanks. that was very helpful. I found the book. now I’m trying to read it
with a braille display connected to my Mac. if I manage to get into the text
area of the book, how do I navigate? I’ve been getting put back into the menu
no matter what I do. maybe there’s some setting that would fix
Hi Lorie,
When I open the Kindle app, focus is on the Search field. I need to press
Control + Option + Space before entering the search text.
After entering the text, and pressing Enter, press VO + Right Cursor once and
you should be on the Search Grid View Collection.

I was wondering about the accessibility of that app as well. I tried it a

I managed to download and sign into Kindle on my Mac. has anybody here done
much with that? I was trying to find a book in my library that I thought I
remembered purchasing. I couldn’t find it in my library so I looked it up on
Amazon and it showed that I do own it. so I tried looking under the
No, unfortunately.

Well Apple sure made it much more difficult to do what was so simple
in iTunes. But I finally got all my audiobooks in the Books app. And
after fighting with the sync process. got it done.
The only thing I do not lie is the audiobooks now live on the

Hello,
On the iPhone, kindle Works great. It is fully accessible. I use it on a
regular basis. On the Mac on the Other hand is not that accessible at all. It
is difficult to to read a book at all. You are able to get to where the voice
reads the Book but the screen turns off and the book stops
This makes it easy for me then since I only have a couple Kindle
books and one is also on the Apple Books store. Thanks for the feedback.

On the Mac, on Catalina, Kindle is not accessible as far as reading books,
whereas Apple Books is. On iOS, both are good, but Apple Books shows more
formatting, like headings.

Hi All,
A new version of the Kindle software has just been released for the Mac. It
looks as though it should work with VoiceOver, but none of my books are showing
up at the moment.
The book list is now recognised as a table by VoiceOver and there is a Text To
Speech option in the Tools menu

Yes, there is an app for the Mac. Now, go find your shocked face, because
you're gonna need it... Yep, the app is fully inaccessible. It is made up
of "unknown" elements across the board, though some preferences can be
accessed, and of course the dropdown menus work.
