Very interesting, I checked and I have 10.10 on my recovery console. I’m
wondering if this problem only affects machines before 2012. Have you tried
contacting applecare to see if they have an explanation?

You may not have the problem . It is unclear why some of us are
retaining Mavericks on our Recovery Console, even after installing
Yosemite but clearly this problem is not affecting everybody. Some
people are in fact getting the correct Yosemite Recovery Console.
I suggest you simply have a lo
David,
your problem sounds very serious and a real headache. What would your
recommendation be for those who do not have a yosemite installer handy? I’m
afraid of this happening to me and as of now, I do not have an installer of
yosemite.

I also may have a theory/solution re: the headphone jack. The other day I
couldn't get bluetooth sound with my jam xt bluetooth speaker though it would

Hello David,
My sympathies with you that must be annoying. You mentioned System Prefs. I
wondered if you knew about the system report button in "About this Mac”?
Hopefully, it doesn’t happen again but a screen dump of the audio devices
might be useful to some of the Apple forums. (Shift + Comma
Hello thanks for the feedback.
The reason I lose sound in the 3.5mm jack is a bit of a mystery. It is
the second time this has happened and only a re-install resolves the
issue. If you go into system preferences and consult the output tab the
device has completely disappeared with only interna
Hello David,
First, let me say that I am so sorry you had to go through all of that just to
get back up and running.
Second, I am wondering why you lost sound in your 3.5 earphone/microphone jack.
If you don't track down the cause, or at least an easier solution, you may
have to deal with s
