Okay, have you gone into System Preferences on the Imac and enabled FTP
Sharing?

It should be okay so long as "Internet Sharing" is disabled. I just
log on to the Mac using the Network but again you have to have the
various permissions and sharing options set correctly or it won't work.

Might want to just turn on SMB file sharing so you can mount your Mac's
hard drive on your windows box. Specific steps vary depending on what
flavor of OSX you are on. In the end, from your windows box you map a
network drive and use \\your_mac_ip_address\your_mac_login_shortname as
the folder
First place to look for bugs is in the sharing and permissions of the
computer you're trying to connect to. Then investigate the router
through which they all connect. I'd wonder whether FTP is the best
way to do this.
