This bug affected both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs in the same way. Fusion does indeed work on Apple Silicon, when not affected by this bug. The latest Sonoma has fixed it; when I upgrade to the next minor point release, I'll see if the fix is in there, but if not then it's the next major point

If I can get the Arch Linux installer to give me an accessible installation, I'll go with Arch. When I succeded with VMware on my 2013 era Macbook Air, I was unable to get the Arch installer to talk, so went with Debian. That worked wonderfully as long as the Air was my traveling laptop.

VMWare is definitely the superior product. However, Voiceover won’t do anything once you are inside the virtual session. You would have to install NVDA or JAWS inside the VMWare session in order to make windows fully accessible. Btw, I don’t trust narrator to be more than basic system
