Hi!
What did you pay for that one?
I don’t think this can be connected right away to my Heat pump.

I believe those features are pretty common now. The Nast has always done all of
that. No I never use the automatic modes. I prefer controlling that as I need
it. I get more

Thanks, Jeff. Just curious, do you control the thermostat through any of these
interfaces? We currently have a nest, but I'm thinking I'd like to have a
thermostat I can control
thanks, John. that being the case, I'll continue to fuss with it. :)

Hi John,
I don't seem to be having the same luck. I logged into next, and it said I was
connected, but when I tell Google Assistant to set the temperature, nothing
happens, or I should say, I'm prompted to watch Youtube videos about connecting
to a nest thermostat. Our nest is about six
No, not at all.
I thought it might be hard to install, when I looked in the box, but it was
actually really simple. I had the help of my 14 year old and we installed it
ourselves. Basically, you take the thumb knob off the inside of the door and
then attached the August lock. The app walks
Hi!
Is this device hard to set up?
Thanks.

It is cool that we can do that. But I see it only as a workaround. I don’t
really care to use the Google assistant. Though creating the Siri shortcut it’s
seamless from my end.
I did add all my devices to the Google assistant since they all work with just
about every platform out there. But I
I do not believe it has NFC, but it does work with both Google Home and Home
Kit and can unlock your door on approach. You can also allow other people
access to the lock if need be and I purchased a keypad to go with it which can
be placed outside. In this scenario, you can give people a four
Hi Jeff!
The smartlock you’re using, does it has nfc or is it only remote controlled?
I would like to have something that would unlock when you put your device
(iphone or google ) against it.

Oh, wow, that's super cool! How did you do it? I've never used Google
Assistant IOS app. Do you use it for anything besides controlling the nest?
Cheers,

The newest version of the Google assistant iOS app offer Siri shortcuts
integration. I just set up Siri commands to control my nest thermostat. And
they work very well.

I've heard that furnace installers/repair people prefer the Eco, and I will say
I don't think our nest has worked quite as well with the new furnace that was
put in last summer. The Honeywell thermostat that Jeff mentioned also gets
good reviews. But yeah, I'm tired of controlling it through
Hi John,
The Phillips Hughes bulbs are the ones I seem to come across most often, though
they are not cheap.

Like you, I have a nest thermostat. I’ve had it for years. If Nast added
HomeKit support I would stick with Nest and probably upgrade. But I’m
considering the ecobee as well. I really would like control via HomeKit and
Siri. Everything else I have is controllable via Siri.
I have several
I am using LIFX bulbs, eve switches, and eve motion detector.
The only accessibility problem I have is adjusting colors on the bulbs. It’s a
very graphic interface. And not even usable with voiceover on. Everything else
is no problem at all.

Oh, sorry…I forgot my thermostat. I have the Honeywell Lyric T5 which works
with both Homekit and Google Home as well.

Thanks, Jeff. Just curious, do you control the thermostat through any of these
interfaces? We currently have a nest, but I'm thinking I'd like to have a
thermostat I can control through Siri. Currently looking at the Ecobee3.

Hi Donna,
All of the products I use work with Homekit They also work with Google Home.
I have both systems in my house, so I wanted cross compatibility.
The iHome ISS50 is a 5 in 1 sensor. It can report back on things such as:
temperature,
humidity,
motion,
sound and,
light.

Hi Jeff,
thanks for this. These are some of the devices I am considering. Are they all
controllable by Siri?
Also, what is an iHome ISS 50?
Thanks,

Hi Donna,
I am using a bunch of Philips Hue lights which work with a bridge. I also have
several iHome Smart plugs that I use to turn things on and off and I have an
August Smart Lock.
I’m hoping to get an iHome ISS50 5 in 1 sensor for Christmas.

Hi all,
I've become curious about using Apple home kit more in our house. Wondering
what devices/appliances list members are using with home kit that you
particularly like?
TIA,
Donna
