Finally 0x 0.2 has been released.
This new release offers more stability, better support for n800
and some new functionalities.
This is the reduced changelog:
- Import the nanddump functionality from mtd-utils
- Partition dumping and partial restore support
- Fix the bootloader dump
- Better

It looks like the real issue is that the PowerVR folks haven't released
a linux 2.6 driver for the chip (and reading
their web page, they don't intend to). That sucks. If Nokia can't lean
on PowerVR to get a 3D driver for 2.6
out of them, then I think Nokia should consider a different chipset for

This is a bandwidth issue.

I don't recall arcade games from the late 80's using too much 3D power.

Well, i cant disagree with that

doesn't this also require the support of the X Composite Extension and a
compositing manager ?

Well the problem is in pushing full frames from internal framebuffer in
SRAM to external memory on video chip. This mean

It's all in the archives of the maemo-developer list, try a search for PowerVR.
Could this be added to the wish list (do I need a bug tracker entry too)?
Thanks,

i'm sure someone else will be able to enlighten you better than i do but
from what i can recall, it's not only a matter of providing a driver and
enabling the device. there are bus and memory bandwidth considerations
that somehow make the use of the 3d chipset useless on the current hardware

Hey,
Just a quick note. If I could have one thing changed software wise on
the n800, I'd enable the 3d chipset. I probably wouldn't even use it for
3d graphics, just to accelerate 2d graphics. That would be sweet. pygame
is nice, but I want translucency and lighting effects.

I have filled a Bug against the missing support of the Jazelle
specifications for the hardware:

Just FYI, Vorbis/Tremor is ported to TI DS

So which one is it? The tool preferred by developers or the tool
No comments on segmentation faults, but take a look at:

Removing ~/.osso fixes screen rendering problem. Submenu problem is also
known, but no fix?
