Editing the sources in the indicated manner (plus adjusting the level
of indentation of the remaining part of the function) indeed works.
Editing i18n.py in the install directory doesn't suffice, however - it
is necessary to edit the file in the distribution directory and then do
a 'make
Mailman assume that 'strptime' is available? Is there a
workaround?
Any ideas or pointers most welcome.

Am I completely mistaken, or did there use to be a checkbox somewhere in
the Mailman web admin GUI which if checked changed the time of messages
distributed on a mailinglist to the time of distribution rather than the
time the message was sent from the author?
