The ADD COLUMN statement allows a new "temporary" column to be created
for an open table.
In an application I'm writing, I want to give a column the name of the
map window identifier, so that each map window can have a unique
thematic map. The thematic mapping bit works, but only the first ti
May be this is a just a simple question . There's an error in MapXtreme noted cannot
register Gif format.
Any clue ?.

One easy way to do this is to use the MapBasic window. Assuming all the files have the
same columns to be added, you can do it once using the menu system and then just
change the file name and re-run the line in the MapBasic window.

There are a couple of options (hacks for you programmers):
1) Use Word as your layout program - import the map into Word and do your
layout around it. I usually dump it to an image using File | Save Window As
but it is also possible to copy the map window and paste it as an OLE
object. T

I just loaded up a building footprint file I have which was in nad27 and
saved it as nad83 using the save as function with the new projection. The
new file reflects the nad83. I use utm nad 27/83 though. Maybe it doesn't
work with the lat/long, i'm not sure.

data directly in both IE and Netscape is to use java applets.

1:250,000 DEM files of most of the US (I am sure Texas will be there
somewhere :) ). You can use Mapinfo's DEM to Grid converter to convert the
