hi,
i'm actually a student in informatics in montpellier (france).I'm working on
GIS more particulary on dynamic segmentation.
I'm working on mapinfo and also mapbasic (that i don't really know well).
If somebody can help me in that way by giving me references or url i would
be so gratefull
Use the Create Line statement in a mapbasic window...
MapBasic Syntax:
Create Line
[ Into { Window window_id | Variable var_name } ]
( x1, y1) ( x2, y2)
[ Pen . . . ]
window_id is a window identifier
var_name is the name of an existing object variable
x1,
alternatively, using the mapbasic createline() function would save all that
faffing about with mouse clicks and the alter object menu!

Hi All
having a frustrating problem with MI 6.0 Firstly my Grabber button keeps
"sticking" That is sometimes the "hand" will not pick up the map and move
it. I have to zoom in and out a couple of times to solve the problem. In
addition I had a problem with the reshape button. I had a poly
I am also having a lot of problems with the icons etc. the actual graphic
being on the active tool resembles the last used tool instead of the current
one, I think that this is something to do with the compatibility between
MIpro and Win2k, it also may explain the sticking Pan tool. Also the
James,
Thanks !! for your help.
I am analizing the possibility of using Oracle 8i
in a new project for an utility (draw the electrical network) in a multiuser
environment and I am a little preoccupied with respect performance with 1 millon
records in an NT with a 800 MHz proccesor and 512 M
I use a Garmin III+, which has a built-in trip computer. Gives you
distance as well as max, avg and current speed.

Dear List,
With reference to the MapXtreme pricing model debate - pricing per power
unit or
pricing per server.
Doug wrote that MapInfo quoted that they have adopted the pricing per
power unit because "..this is the way the market is going.."
Does anyone have any elaboration on this as to how
I'm having this problem with the grabber tool too - with Win98. I thought
maybe my computer was playing up, as I hadn't seen this problem until
yesterday. It's interesting to see others have the same problem. I too am
running MI6.

Yesterday I asked about reformatting Manifold Time Zone data for
MapInfo. The responses were not encouraging. And Tech Support at
Manifold was less than helpful.
So now I will take another tact. Does anyone know of any very detailed,
accurate Time Zone data in TAB, mif/mid or SHP format?
I am attempting to dynamically create thematic polygon maps in an
application. My problem is that when I use Create Ranges/Create Styles to
accomplish this, my polygon borders are remaining black and not transparent
as I wish. My hard code for mapping is
Shade bla bla

It's caused by snapping, I think. If you switch snap (ctrl-s) off the
grabber freeze problem goes away, and you can switch snap back on again
until the next time the grabber freezes.

The answer lies in the shade statement. To use the brush_style variable you
have to create a string then use it with a Run command
The string will look as follows:
a="shade window "+frontwindow()+" layer_name with var_name ranges 10:120
"+brush_styles(1)+" Pen (1,1,0) ,120:200
Juanse,
You could write a MapBasic program using the following logic:
dim rowid, type as integer
dim alt, number, postid as float (?)
open input_table
open output_table
fetch first from input_table
do while not eot(input_table)
rowid = input_table.rowid
type = input_table.type

Jonathan,
There is a file of cities with population 125K that is included with
the sample data on your MapInfo installation disk. If the cities you
want fit that criteria, just open that file, select the points for the
cities you want, save the selection to a new file, then use that new
file.
