There are two SQL wildcards:

_ (underscore): one character
You have to use them with the LIKE operator in this way. Note that the Like

Guy,
by default windows 2000 has a habit of burying user files (esp..temporary

they are buried depends upon your installation...but once you start getting

It can import miff files but unfortunately it can't export them.
Hi Everyone,
does anyone know of a quick way or programme to convert from vbf vector files into dxf

Good day everyone-
As far as the Scalebar tool is concerned, there have been no new versions of
it in several years, simply because it worked as is. Jacques Paris was able
to modify the base code to automatically calculate the scale of the frame in
the layout window, and also improved the GUI,
Anyone know the maths behind the MI 6.5 node thinning algorithm?

Bill,
My guess is the tool is having trouble with the projection of the point
file. I bet it is in a long / lat projection system. Try UTM.

This is true; thanks for pointing it out, I forgot to do so. (one may
also go to NT4, if so desired, but in my opinion, that's a severe step
backwards).
However, not to start the OS war thread again, but in my humble opinion,
you should probably be using WindowsNT or 2000 anyway, since its

triangle out of them. Drop a perpendicular line from the middle node down

Hello,
I've tried looking in my own archives of the list (from December of 2001)
but I couldn't find an answer for this problem.
I'm using an OLE server programmed via MapBasic (6.5 across the board for

Hello,
Can anyone tell me why when I use clip regions and
then print from a layout my jobs increase in size greatly.
As an example, printing to a file -- a simple map of

a portion of this section and send it to the printer or

To understand why, you need to understand what a Microsoft Region is,
which is different from a MapInfo Region. A MapInfo region is a series of
nodes which, when traversed, define a closed area (or set of closed areas).
The nodes are originally in the coordinate system of the table, but

Richard,
I don't know anything about non-modal Layer Control windows or what the
optimal pointing device is. But I am a user that likes his keyboard

you're doing? Disregard if that isn't something you're looking for.

Hi.
Can anyone explain why the FONT SIZE control is not available for overriding style of
text objects in a layer. Seems like its not available to Mapbasic either:
i.e.
Set Map Layer 1 Display Global Global Font (Arial,0,10,53352)
change 10 to anything else and font size stays the same, but

Hi,
Does anyone know how to convert a MapInfo Tab file to a Shape file or an ArcInfo export file and retain all the region styles (ie colours, patterns etc)?
