Tony,
TrueType Fonts are an easy and cheap alternative to the standard MapInfo
symbols. I used the Font Creator Program from http://www.high-logic.com/.
A single user license is $50, but you can try it first (shareware).
My way of getting the right font set was copying, renaming and changing an
Dear all,
I have been working on a workspace which has been created by someone else.

Nick,
We've found that any alterations set through Table=modify are written into
the tab file. This means that when the raster image is opened subsequently
it will load with the last alteration set through this option. The other
way to alter a raster image is through layer control=display.
Dear List,
I know this is not a pure MI/MB topic, but I hope this forum has the knowledge to
handle this question.

That's because notepad is a command Prompt command whereas Wordpad isn't

Hi Steve,
The reason why wordpad won't startup is because Mapinfo doesn't know where
it is. So if you put the entire path in your Run Program statement it will
find it. So it would be (in my case)
Run Program C:\Program Files\Windows NT\Accessories\wordpad.exe

i'm stumped. why does this work :
select * from world, water where water.obj intersects earth.obj
and this :
dim tableOne, tableTwo as String
tableOne = water
tableTwo = earth
select * from tableOne, tableTwo where water.obj intersects earth.obj
but not this :
dim tableOne, tableTwo, objOne,
Steve,
Right,
Firstly:
Use a fetch statement to take the contents of a column
cell and place it into a array variable.
e.g.
For Var_A = 1 to TableInfo(tablename, TAB_INFO_NROWS)
Fetch Rec(Var_A) From table
arrayvariable(Var_A) = tablename.col(?)
Next
Once that is done:
CharacterCount
Steve,
Wordpad is not something windows will run without a full path (whereas
notepad is). this is a pain because what you hardcode as its path on your pc
wont be the same on your clients pc when they use your app (sods law).
I often find that its best to use an API call when trying to get
But this would work:
dim tableOne, tableTwo as String
dim objOne, objTwo as Alias
tableOne = water
tableTwo = earth
objOne = tableOne + .obj
objTwo = tableTwo + .obj
select * from tableOne, tableTwo where objOne intersects objTwo

I have had good results editing True Type symbol fonts with CorelDraw

can replace every character in the font, and there are freeware symbol fonts
you can use as a starting point.
