I have a problem creating lines from tabular data. I have an excel
table with 5 columns ID, X, Y, X_2, Y_2. I import it into MapInfo and then
save copy it as a new table. I open the new table, set it mappable and set
the projection correctly. The coordinates are in float format.

There may be some more efficient way of doing this, but this
should work. It allows you to open a particular table but
if you already know which one you are using, then you don't
need that dialog. Instead of new you can pass a variable
to it.
