It is correct, that the geodatabase has a lot in common with SHP files
with regards to structure etc, but saying it stores the SHP file is not
correct. Data are stored in standard relational databases, such as
Oracle, DB2 etc.
Main differences from SHP files:
Coordinates are stored in integers lik
Hi all,
We are currently using version 7.5 of MI Pro and have a little problem.
We want to make thematic maps with bar charts and/or pie charts. The
legend and the map are put in a different frame in the layout.
Unfortunatly, when we want to plot the map on a size larger than can be
fit on screen
Warren,
Where does this format sit in ESRI's grand scheme of things?

Hi,
'Grid Translator Pro (GTP) for MapInfo Vertical Mapper' translates Surfer
Grids (ASCII and Binary) to Vertical Mapper.
Check it out at: http://www.geomaticssystems.com/Products/GTPMapInfo.htm
In addition of Surfer grid, 'GTP for MapInfo Vertical Mapper' translates

Hi Keith,
I think SDC (Smart Data Compression) is something that evolved rather than
designed to fit into the grand scheme of data formats. SDC was originally
designed for Business Map - an ESRI product for visualising user data. Since
Business Map includes street-level data for the whole US, a hi
Hi,
I have a question on the Cartographic capabilities in MapInfo. I want to
place and print Labels of streets (street names) in MapInfo in a way that
these are following the Street Geometry. Which means that a meandering road
(Curved Road), should have its label printed in curve alongside the r
Almost 6 years ago I've written a small utility to translate Surfer ASCII
grids into Vertical Mapper ASCII grids, the file can be found at
http://www.directionsmag.com/files/index.php/view/133. Note that the
translation is rather slow and works only upon certain versions of ASCII
files. The

I think the problem might be the declaration of your TimeToTarget() function. If you
have to be able to "send" a column name to the funtion it should take the parameters
ByVal, like this declaration:
Declare Function TimeToTarget(ByVal fDist As Float, ByVal fSpeed As Float) As Date

Hi,
I've just now began using the statement "Server conn Begin Transaction", and have
uncovered a snag (bug?) in my preliminary testing. I'm using MB 6.5 with Oracle 9i,
but it's most likely generic.
According to the MB manual, "Begin Transaction" caches all commands until either a

I thought the Geodatabase 'formats' - MS Access and various enterprise
databases - simply stored the SHP format, its accompanying files, and a
whole lot of 'other' stuff?
There's precise info for what's in Geodatabases on their website.
The SHP etc can be extracted from these databases.

Dear all
I am looking for a solution to manage 26'000 pictures and attributive data

Hi all,
Quick question, has anyone had any problems transferring tools
from Mapinfo 6.5 to Mapinfo 7.5? The tool was created in Mapbasic 5.5, and
while some aspects works fine, the parts of the tool that reference OS tiles
don't work, and display an error message saying 'Could not convert
Just for completeness sake : I've just discovered that the side-effect seems
to be due to "Server conn Commit", rather than to "Server conn Begin

And even thought the manual for "Server Commit" says "Then you must issue a
