Did anyone mention that, a couple of weeks ago, US broadcaster Art Bell was
talking up his brand new minidisc on his internationally syndicated program?
He apparently loves it. I guess he sells a ton of product on his show
whenever he promotes something (the Oprah of overnight radio?) so let's

Good question.
This has been talked about in the past - I remember Rick doing some looong
tests along this line, calculating disc revolutions over a 24hr period etc.
Perhaps he has details on the MDCP.
My 701 stops the disc spinning and goes into a kind of standby mode if left

Hi,
When you read a record with FORTRAN, the read statement tells what the

Hi,
The problem is/was that 9/9/99 was used as an exit code (esp for really old
text based data entry) eg:
Enter new date (enter 9/9/99 to exit program) :
Ah, now that's a plausible scenario. However, if I had been
the one who had contracted this programmer, I'd have him
executed on the spot.

Well, in the application I was thinking of the master MD would be a new

I used Audiophase earbuds to make the Stereo "T" style mike I designed.
Paid $5.00 for the earbud and cut them off the cable. Threw out the
earbuds and used the cable for the mike cable. I used the Audiophase
ones because they were cheap.

Luca,
you can expect the same sort of level from an MD deck as a CD deck,
ie ~ 1Volt, which should drive your amp without problems. As to why your R55
was distorted (rather than just too low) is a bit of a mystery, and makes me
wonder if it was not connected properly (and you were just

While it is in record mode, the recording head is "warm" and the laser is
operating at a higher power level than playback.

Yesterday afternoon, while walking through Harvard Square, I walked past a

Anyone ordered from these people? I'm thinking both for an Aiwa F70, and a
video recorder for my uni house (both at least 20 quid cheaper than Dixons
etc).
Any good/bad experiences?

In case anyone reading the MiniDiscussion boards read my post there, where I

I've just posted there that Mr. Hobgood researched the IP address

Hello everyone, I'm webmaster for the Art Bell web page. (www.artbell.com)
I've been on this list for about 2 weeks, after I myself purchased a Sony
JB920 Deck and have a RZ-MD50 portable on the way. I thought I'd finally chime
in, since I could contribute to the initial message about Art Bell.
