I stopped in my local Borders yesterday, and was
surprised to see they were selling Maxell MD blanks.
But I was SHOCKED to see the price! A 2-pack of
Maxells for $14.99!!! And 5 packs for $30!!!
What gives? Is Maxell overpriced, or does Borders
have its head in the sand?

I was recording a CD recently on my Sony MXD-D3 (is
that the right number? it's the CD - MD deck), and I
got a pleasant surprise. While recording I decided to
title the tracks, so I wouldn't have to go back and do
it later. To my surprise, once I hit "name" to enter
the titling feature, the

Sony doesn't include earbuds
To EWong. Maybe the original poster would have bought
the professional equipment, if he had realized that he
wanted that feature (i.e. the ability to set the
SCMS); but now that he has a MD recorder, doesn't
really want to go out and buy another unit.
P.S. There are times when one would want

Because a) they cost more for equivalent audio quality and b) the average
American doesn't like them.

Hi. I'm going to be moving and am selling off as much stuff as I can.
I pulled out one of my portable MD recorders (no, I don't plan on
selling the portables, I sold the deck). I had bought a new pair of
headphones and couldn't find my portable CD player.
So I auditioned them on my MD

Wouldn't an ATRAC-encoded track be double the
people don't necessarily want SCMS control just to STEAL music, it's
also because without it you can't even copy YOUR OWN stuff. And we
don't all have the budgets for pro equipment.

Pretty funny Taky. LOL
I think the real reason is so the cops can tell if you are driving and
listening to MD.
Just a guess..

Not just another pretty mandolin picker.
I agree with you 100% and that's why I don't think that they should be
alowed to force it on us.

I've found that mp3s of songs with vocals sometimes do not transfer over to
MiniDisc well (analog), especially 128k files. Although it is partially
dependant on the EQ settings on my home stereo, even if I drop the bass down
and boost other parts up, with some songs the vocals are kind of

The other day I was playing an old CD on my computer and the names of
the songs showed on the screen. I guess that some CDs come that way.

Or check to see if the names aren't already in the cdplayer.ini file.

I've noticed some minor problems with 128k MP3, sometimes sort of a "hard"
